Kaiya Jacob

Youth Research Assistant

Kaiya Jacob (she/her) joined Advancing Health as a Youth Research Assistant for Dr. Sarah Munro and her team in the fall of 2022. She has since worked on projects including ‘Ask Us: Youth Voices to Improve Contraception Access’ and ‘It’s My Choice’ in the CART Access project, as well as supporting the planning of the 8th Bi-Annual Contraception and Abortion in BC Provincial Meeting.

As a queer woman and settler of mixed Swedish, Irish, German, and Afro-Trinidadian descent living on unceded Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh territories, anti-oppression is central to her values and her work. In her Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Gender, Sexuality, Women’s Studies at SFU, she focused on the role of communications in community building and advocacy for Black, racialised, and queer communities. In her future, she intends to pursue a career in Social Work and Counselling alongside her practice as a full-spectrum doula.
