The third cohort for the PHC/VCH Knowledge Translation (KT) Challenge has just been announced.

The KT Challenge is designed to support teams of PHC and VCH clinicians who many not have much KT expertise but are responsible for moving evidence into practice. Successful applications to the KT Challenge will receive funding (up to $5,000) and training learn the basics of knowledge translation and to support a KT initiative.

CHÉOS Scientists have been involved in first two rounds of the KT Challenge. Dr. Martha Mackay mentored a team in the inaugural competition. The team implemented an intervention to screen cardiac patients for depression and anxiety before they are discharged. In last year’s Challenge, a team mentored by Dr. Joseph Puyat was selected as one of the successful groups. This team aims to implement a clinical toolkit for monitoring people on clozapine, a medication used for treatment-resistant schizophrenia.

Participation in the KT Challenge program is open to staff affiliated with VCH and/or PHC. There must be a minimum of two people per team, and teams can be inter-professional. Applicants will find team members and complete a short application form, due Oct 22. More information about this year’s challenge is available here.
